Proactol - new Fat Binding Pills will be available online in January

I just heard that there is a new Fat Binding Pill called Proactol which will be available to buy online in January. It is clinically proven to bind 28% of dietary fat.

Proactol™ is clinically proven to bind approximately 28% of dietary fats if it is taken straight after a meal. Therefore if you are taking Proactol™ you will consume approximately 28% less dietary fats from each meal than you would without taking Proactol™. This is a significant amount of fat reduction in your daily diet. This has been clinically proven to help reduce excess body weight and to help to reduce blood cholesterol levels.

I´ll be looking into this more over the coming weeks to see if this is something I would be interested in trying.

I nearly forgot.......

...........that I had this blog going!! It´s been such a long time since I posted, you are probably wondering what has been happening. Well, life is never dull around here.

There have been some great family moments! My daughter gave birth to a beautiful baby girl called Angel, my son and his new wife are expecting a baby in May next year and we have found the house of our dreams! Of course, living in Spain means that things take a bit longer to accomplish, so the house buying has been dragging out.

My other half also got very sick and was in hospital for two weeks, which was all very worrying and stressful. I turned to chocolate for comfort!! Because I was out most of the time visiting him in hospital, the last thing I thought about was taking the Hoodia tablets, so I had to stop at the Petrol Station on my way home every night (feeling very sorry for myself ) to stock up on junk food!

I was also back in Dublin to see my new Grandaughter! She is so beautiful! She was only 6 lbs 2 ozs so she is tiny!

So now, that´s my news! Oh, and today is my birthday! Happy Birthday to me!

Back from the wedding

Well, the wedding day was beautiful. The sun shone, everyone looked beautiful - especially the bride of course and the day went off very well.

I was amazed how well the grooms-men looked. My other 2 sons, my grandson and my nephew wore dress suits and I was really surprised that they actually loved being dressed up like that. They didn´t want to change at the end of the day!

The bride and groom went off on their Carribean Honeymoon. All the stress of the last few months was worth it to see them so happy.

Weight loss, lose weight, slimming ...

...weight loss, lose weight, slimming , diet , and all those other words that mean exactly the same thing..........starvation!! This is what it used to be like for me, just the mention of one of those words made me instantly crave chocolate!

But not any more!! Here I am, just a few days from my sons wedding and for the first time ever I have lost weight without having to suffer :) I have to say here that I still have a way to go before I reach my Ideal Weight, but now I know how easy it can be I am not worried about having to diet for months on end.

Todays job is to sort out the clothes we will be bringing to Ireland and start packing.......I really love travelling, and the airport (any airport) is my most favourite place to hang out, so I don´t mind having to be there 2 hours before the flight leaves. It means I have plenty of time for people watching and trying to guess where people are going and why.

Too Many Calories

Too Many Calories

by Bassy

How many calories do you need? Well, that depends on a lot of things. Your age, sex, type of work, physical activity, all come into play. There is no one answer for this type of thing. I have to warn you, I don't believe the general ideas on how many calories a person should have. If you have a 2,000 calorie diet, you are starving yourself. I know that some people live and die by this number, but I just throw it to the wind. Wny don't I pay attention to a number such as 2,000? Only because it is stupid. Yes, you heard me right, stupid. How is a person who is very active going to live off of 2,000 calories? I mean, you would end up looking like those dying skinny kids in the 3rd world countries. I think you get the drift though. I think those numbers are put in place by people who are so focused on health, that they are blinded by it. I mean, if you have 3,000 calories in one day, it won't kill you. Though, they might want to make you believe that it will.

I'm not saying that you should throw all of this stuff to the wind. That would be foolish. What I am saying is, you should take it with a grain of salt. There is no reason why you should get bent out of shape if you go a few hundred or even a thousand over this limit. I mean, if you are going over by 5,000 then you should be worried. Some people do need to be concerned with such a thing. For example, people who are on a diet because of heart problems. You should be very focused on your diet. Also people with sugar problems would fall into this category as well.

If you don't have some sort of health problem, I wouldn't get too bent out of shape. Though, if you are eating from the drive through lane every day, then you might have a problem. What am I saying? Use common sense. Understand where your calories are coming from. If you are eating 3,500 calories and they are mostly from things that are good for you, don't go ape shit on yourself. If on the other hand if it is all from candy and deep fried foods, I would be concerned.
You should be more concerned about where the calories are coming from. Ahhh, now I think you see what I mean. If you are eating 1,500 calories alone of fruits and veggies, that is better than eating that in fat. Isn't it all the same? Not really. I would say that it isn't the same. I know that some of you will argue with that. It isn't the same because the calories are coming from a good source. They are coming from things that are good for you. The fruits and veggies will help you out in many ways. They will also help you fight off cancer and heart disease. This isn't true if you are over eating on fats and sweets.

What to do? Well, all I know is what I have stated above. If you are eating over 2,000 calories and you are eating things that are good for you, I wouldn't be too concerned. As always, you should talk to your doctor. That is the best advice I can give you. You should always talk to him before you go and do something new. You might have a health condition that will require you to go on a diet that he tells you to go on.

If you are healthy, base most of your diet on raw fruits and veggies. That is where the action is. That is where you will get the most bang for your calorie. Happy eating.

Kicking the habit – putting an end to fast food and snacks in your diet

It’s always easy to gain weight and damned hard to lose it. Eating is one of the true pleasures in life and refraining from food has huge physical and psychological implications that cannot be easily discarded. Nobody likes to have to give up a pleasure, which is why many people drift farther and farther into fat without doing anything to stop the process. Moreover, recent data showed that the body does not respond to diets as doctors thought it should. The body has to adapt to changes and diets are seen as lean periods that should be offset by making fat harder to burn. While the body is certainly the most complex instrument we posses in our lives, it cannot discern between actual lean times and diets.

Another problem for the body is the widespread use of fast food, snacks and soft drinks. Fast food is highly powered food that fools the stomach into calling for more, despite the fact that one giant burger is the caloric equivalent of an entire meal. The giant burger is not usually enough to fill the stomach of an adult person, so most people eat more than one and wash it down with soft drinks that are little more than sugared water. This is an unfortunate way of eating, since the body gets far more than it needs from burgers and soft drinks. The largely sedentary lifestyles led by most urban residents mean that the excess calories will certainly be stored as fat.

Snacks are another threat to a healthy life by bringing in too much calories and by being too readily available when hunger strikes. The correct option for between meals snacks is to buy fruit. Sure, it may not taste as good, especially if one is used to chips or other types of snacks, but one or two bananas or some apples are far better for one’s health. A very important point is to remember that habits can be kicked just as easily as they take root. By ignoring the temptation of chips you will gradually lose interest in them and get used to fruit. Once chips are no longer a staple of your diet, you will find yourself wondering what was so good about them anyway.

It´s getting closer!!

Only 2 weeks to go until we travel to Ireland and 2 and a half weeks to the Big Day! And I haven´t even bought anything to wear yet!!!!!! I´m going shopping today and just hope I don´t get too depressed in the process. I hate clothes shopping..................but I can´t turn up in a beach sarong (which is my favourite form of dress right now).

Anyway, here is a testimonial I found for ProshapeRx.......I´m not the only one who is impressed with the way it "turns off" your hunger:

ProShape RX

I’ve always been overweight. Ever since I was a kid, I have always liked food and hated exercising. Staying at home in front of the TV, playing console games, or at the computer always seemed much more fun than going out. I’ve never been able to match the other guys in sports because I could not run fast enough, so I used to keep clear of outdoor games. Because of this, I had few friends and I was always unhappy with my life. I hated school and all those who made fun of me, especially since I could not afford to talk back to boys who could easily hurt me.

As the years passed, I gained more and more weight and spent more and more time indoors. My girlfriend dumped me, probably for a better looking guy, and my friends didn’t like to come around to my place any more than I liked going to theirs. That’s when I started thinking about losing weight through dieting. Despite the loneliness and fear of facing other people, I still refused to admit that something might be wrong with me. Dieting sounded interesting, but the idea of denying myself good food was appalling. One might say that I lived for eating at that time. That’s probably why my early attempts at dieting were complete failures.

When I first read about ProShaperx on the Internet I thought “There’s no way a pill can curb the feeling of hunger”. I was sure that the whole idea was a scam, but it had me thinking. The reason why I had always failed to stick to a diet was the strong feeling of hunger. So I figured that a pill that takes the hunger away could really help me. Later I saw the impressive list of signed testimonials featured on the ProShaperx website and I felt certain that ProShaperx could help me, too. I ordered my first supply of pills and it was a major turning point in my life. I knew that if I defeated my hunger I would really lose weight and I was right.

I have already lost a couple of pounds and I’m not going to quit. I’ve also started going to the gym and I feel ready to try my hand at socializing. I know that my socializing skills are practically zero, but I might as well start sooner than later. I have a long road before me, but I am committed and sure of myself. I think that overweight people should really consider letting ProShaperx help with the dreaded feeling of hunger. It certainly worked for me.

Weight loss – setting realistic goals

We all want it, we all dream of it. Let’s face it: weight loss is one of the highest and noblest ideals of modern men and women. With a lot of tasty food within easy reach and with a lifestyle split between the office chair and the home couch, putting on weight has never been easier. However, beauty standards have changed since the days of Rubens, a painter famous for his penchant for beautiful buxom ladies. Today’s ideal of beauty tends to borrow some of the traits of Siamese cats; the skinny body and the intense look. And thus, many people voluntarily subject themselves to hard diets hoping to shed some of those pounds separating them from beauty standards.

One of the most important parts of a successful weight loss effort is to set a realistic goal. A target weight that is neither too high nor too low. Setting the goal too high is among the biggest mistakes overweight people make. Every diet has a different pace and this pace is modified still forward by the metabolism and genetic makeup of each individual. This means that not all diets will help one shed pounds at the same rate and that not all people following the same diet would lose weight in the same way. Setting the goal too high opens the door to disappointment, loss of motivation and failure when the target weight proves to be still far away after weeks of restrictive dieting.

Setting the goal too low is also a bad idea. If the diet is not a true test of willpower then it’s all for nothing. A lax diet that features all kinds of treats can hardly be called a diet and losing four pounds in four months is hardly a challenge or an achievement. A danger that many occasional dieters ignore is the response of their own bodies to diets. The body learns to see diets as periods of low consumption and makes it harder to shed the fat it sees as crucial for survival. Frequent and half-hearted diets are likely to trigger this response sooner.

One last advice for all people interested in diets is: take care. Health care experts agree that the maximum weight lost in a week’s time should stay around 1 pound (half a kilogram). This is a realistic target for most people and a safe one, too. Losing weight too fast could mean that the body is not getting all the minerals and nutrients it’s supposed to get and will result in too few energy being available for the internal organs. Dieting or not, one should always watch the intake to make sure one is not overeating nor starving oneself.

Weighed myself this morning :)

Despite having had a bar of chocolate late on Thursday night, icecream yesterday and BBQ last night (including a few glasses of wine!) I have lost a half a kilo - or 1 pound - since Thrusday :)

This makes me very happy as I don´t feel like I am dieting at all. Weight loss made easy is right!! This Hoodia is marvellous. It really does what it says on the packet.

I can´t stop raving about it to all my friends. Well, they keep asking me how I´m losing the weight because my body is dwindling away.....lol

When I think of all the effort I have put over the years..........

..............just to lose a few pounds!!

And now it is so easy. Now I really envy the younger generation. They will never have to worry about going on starvation diets again.

I was very sceptical about taking the Hoodia Pills and really didn´t think they would work. After all, I have been round the diet block a lot of times in my life!! You lose - you gain. It was a never ending battle. But now I just take a couple of pills a day and drink plenty of water and the weight is coming off with no effort.

If you are thinking of trying Hoodia and are not sure if it will work......don´t wait any longer! Try it today - you will NOT be disappointed.

I still allow myself treats. I can keep some chocolate in the fridge for those "special occasions" when the urge is too strong to resist. But I don´t find myself standing in the kitchen wondering if there is "something nice" to have with my coffee. I am just not hungry enough to think about it.

Sampling the Kalahari cactus diet

The San bushmen have eaten the plant for years
Correspondent's Tom Mangold travelled to Africa and sampled the appetite suppressing Hoodia, a plant which may make Kalahari bushmen millionaires.

Imagine this: an organic pill that kills the appetite and attacks obesity.

It has no known side-effects, and contains a molecule that fools your brain into believing you are full.

Deep inside the African Kalahari desert, grows an ugly cactus called the Hoodia. It thrives in extremely high temperatures, and takes years to mature.

The San Bushmen of the Kalahari, one of the world's oldest and most primitive tribes, had been eating the Hoodia for thousands of years, to stave off hunger during long hunting trips.

When South African scientists were routinely testing it, they discovered the plant contained a previously unknown molecule, which has since been christened P 57.

The license was sold to a Cambridgeshire bio-pharmaceutical company, Phytopharm, who in turn sold the development and marketing rights to the giant Pfizer Corporation.

I´m glad I´m not a chocaholic anymore!

I´m really glad I´m no longer a chocaholic anymore. I would have been worried about that salmonella thing! Since I came to live in Spain I have gone off chocolate big time. It just doesn´t taste the same here - I don´t know why, I just know it´s true......lol

And it´s very hard to eat chocolate when it´s hot. No matter how long you leave it in the freezer (yum yum) it still melts into a sticky mess before you finish the bar. You´d need to get into the fridge to eat it to stop it from melting.

Oh my aching head!!

It seemed like a good idea at the time. It was the yearly "Noche San Juan" celebration last night. The traditional way to celebrate Noche San Juan is to go to the beach, have a barbeque and a few drinks and stay on the beach all night. At midnight you are supposed to walk backwards into the sea and let 3 waves wash over you to wash away bad luck, then you turn around and let 5 waves wash over you to bring good luck, then you fall into the water and have a bit of a swim.

Well, as we live inland we decided to walk backwards into the pool instead........that was the plan. So we chilled a couple of bottles of wine and prepared a bonfire (Norwegian Tradition is to light a bonfire on this night). Our neighbour was a bit worried about the fire bit.......hasn´t been much rain here lately and one spark could do a lot of damage!!

Anyway, it ended up we had some wine, got a bit merry, frolicked in the pool a bit then decided to skip the bbq and go to the Chinese/Japanese/Thai restaurant instead. So I rang a taxi and in my very best Spanish accent gave directions to the house. He said he would be 20 minutes. So we waited and waited......and waited some more. Taxi never came so we decided to walk up the road hoping to meet him on the way down. We never did! And by the time we made it up to the restaurant the kitchen was closed.

Oh well, we said ;) We´ll just have to walk on up to town and find a bar. But this has been a very stressful week for me and I was beginning to feel the effects of it all - I just wanted to put my head down somewhere and go to sleep. We couldn´t get a taxi to get back home again!! So I decided I was going to lie down and go to sleep......my poor hubby has a lot to put up with, bless him!

We eventually got a barman to gat a taxi for us and got home. And I am paying big time today for having too much wine and no food. We definitely should have stuck to our original plan and stayed home for the night!

I´m cheating today.....though not with food!

It´s a lovely day here today so I am spending as much time as possible outside and in the pool. So here is my lecture for the day......hahahaha.

The causes of obesity

Obesity is caused by unhealthy eating combined with sustained lack of activity. If food gives you more calories than you burn, your body turns on the storage program and puts on fat. This is the basic idea behind obesity.

Disorderly eating habits are the top reason why people becaome obese. With neither the time, nor the inclination to control one’s meals, it’s no wonder people get fat all over the world. Couple that with a sedentary lifestyle where most trips are taken by car and you got a health situation out of control.

Genetics: Obesity can also be inherited from family members who suffered from it. If your family has a history of obesity, then you would do well to watch your weight.

Junk food: We are all busy, but this does not mean that we have to eat everything fast food restaurants put before you. Burgers may look good, but they are fat too highly powered got your health. Thing is, a single burger is worth a whole meal, but your body does not judge the situation this way. Your stomach will never be filled by a regular burger, so it will keep asking for more, despite the fact that your body does not need more burgers.

Do you feel like giving up?
Many people try diets and manage to lose a few pounds. But returning to the old lifestyle and eating habits almost always means that weight lost turns into weight regained. Moreover, as diet follows diet, the body gets used to these “lean times” and makes it harder for you to lose weight.

To all this you may add that following a diet for a longer period of time is hard, because you will always crave the forbidden foods. The fact that certain delicious foods are forbidden makes them that much more attractive. A successful diet means adjusting your lifestyle to your needs, especially by making time for more exercising.

Visiting Friends

What do you do when you are visiting a friends house and they make food that you wouldn´t normally eat??

We have friends that we visit every couple of weeks and spend a few hours at their house, and Maria usually spends most of that time in the kitchen making us something to eat. So it would seem rude to refuse! But I sit there listening to the food being FRIED ( and smell the greasy smell) and just know I will have to eat some of it at least.........ugh! And they never have any diet drinks so I usually ask for water. But she knows I like lemon sodas so she buys them especially for me and I try to make one can last me for the day - just imagining all those calories heading straight for my hips!!

Oh well, can´t help it.....we have to be sociable.

But on the plus side of life...there is a new Thai/Japanese Restaurant just opened in our town. The menu is great - full of my favourites, and it is a good healthy way to have a meal out without worrying about calories.................until we hit the Wine List.....but that´s another story...lol.

Cool Weather = More Food...............

Hot Weather = Less Food.

And unfortunately today we are having a cloudy day, I´m not in the best of humours and I want to comfort eat! I´m not hungry at all I just want to have "comfort food". So I´m going to shake myself, get up from this computer and get outside for a bit.

It´s just as well the Hoodia Pills take away the hunger because I know for a fact that if I wasn´t taking them I would be in the kitchen now making a cup of coffee and searching for my "emergency biscuits"..............lol.

So I don´t have much more to talk about right now.........life is boring sometimes, especially when we´re only a few weeks away from the big event (son´s wedding) and have to save like mad to make sure we have a great holiday.

Talk tomorrow.........

My favourite Diet Joke

I spent ages searching for this joke today! I though I had it saved on my laptop, but obviously it was one of the things I lost along the way. So here it is and I hope you enjoy it.

Dave Barry
Atkins diet slays evil carbohydrates

Posted 03-31-2004 at 5:43PM

I probably shouldn’t admit this to you younger readers, but when my generation was your age, we did some pretty stupid things. I’m talking about taking crazy risks. We drank water right from the tap. We used aspirin bottles that you could actually open with your bare hands. We bought appliances that were not festooned with helpful safety warnings such as, “Do not bathe with this toaster.”

But for sheer insanity, the wildest thing we did was—prepare to be shocked—we deliberately ingested carbohydrates.

I know, I know. It was wrong. But we were young and foolish, and there was a lot of peer pressure. You’d be at a party, and there would be a lava lamp blooping away, and a Jimi Hendrix record playing—a “record” was a primitive compact disc that operated by static electricity. And then, when the mood was right, somebody would say: “You wanna do some ‘drates?” And the next thing you know, there’d be a bowl of pretzels going around, or crackers, or even potato chips, and we’d put these things into our mouths and just ... eat them.

I’m not proud of this. My only excuse was that we were ignorant. It’s not like now, when everybody knows how bad carbohydrates are, and virtually every product is advertised as being “low-carb,” including beer, denture adhesives, floor wax, tires, life insurance, and Viagra. Back then, we had no idea. Nobody did! Our own mothers gave us bread!

Today, of course, nobody eats bread. People are terrified of all carbohydrates, as evidenced by the recent mass robbery at a midtown Manhattan restaurant, where 87 patrons turned their wallets over to a man armed only with a strand of No. 8 spaghetti—“Do what he says! He has pasta! The city of Beverly Hills has been evacuated twice this month because of reports—false, thank heavens—that terrorists had put a bagel in the water supply.

But as I say, in the old days we didn’t recognize the danger of carbohydrates. We believed that the reason you got fat was from eating “calories,” which are tiny units of measurement that cause food to taste good. When we wanted to lose weight, we went on low-calorie diets in which we ate only inedible foods such as celery, which is actually a building material, and grapefruit, which is nutritious but offers the same level of culinary satisfaction as chewing on an Odor Eater.

The problem with the low-calorie diet was that a normal human could stick to it for, at most, four hours, at which point he or she would have no biological choice but to sneak out to the garage and snork down an entire bag of Snickers, sometimes without removing the wrappers. So nobody lost weight, and everybody felt guilty all the time. Many people, in desperation, turned to disco.

But then along came the bold food pioneer who invented the Atkins Diet: Dr. Something Atkins. After decades of research on nutrition and weight gain—including the now-famous Hostess Ding Dong diet experiment, which resulted in a laboratory rat the size of a Plymouth Voyager—Dr. Atkins discovered an amazing thing: Calories don’t matter! What matter are carbohydrates, which result when a carbo molecule and a hydrate molecule collide at high speeds and form tiny invisible doughnuts.

Dr. Atkins’ discovery meant that—incredible though it seemed—as long as you avoided carbohydrates, you could, without guilt, eat high-fat, high-calorie foods such as cheese, bacon, lard, pork rinds, and whale. You could eat an entire pig, as long as the pig had not recently been exposed to bread.

At first, like other groundbreaking pioneers such as Galileo and Eminem, Dr. Atkins met with skepticism, even hostility. The low-calorie foods industry went after him big time. The Celery Growers Association hired a detective to—yes—stalk him. His car tires were repeatedly slashed by what police determined to be shards of Melba toast.

But Dr. Atkins persisted, because he had a dream—a dream that, some day, he would help the human race by selling it 427 million diet books. And he did, achieving vindication for his diet before his tragic demise in an incident that the autopsy report listed as “totally unrelated to the undigested 28-pound bacon cheeseburger found in his stomach.”

But the Atkins Diet lives on, helping millions of Americans to lose weight. The irony is, you can’t tell this by looking at actual Americans, who have, as a group, become so heavy that North America will soon be underwater as far inland as Denver. Which can only mean one thing: You people are still sneaking Snickers. You should be ashamed of yourselves! Got any more?

Where does the time go!

I can´t beleive it´s been a week since I last posted!! Doesen´t time fly when you´re having fun!! I´ve had a really busy week and the weather has been fabulous so I haven´t spent much time indoors.

The good thing about being busy is you don´t have too much time to think about what you´re eating. Although there is a downside to having to be out of the house a lot. That is deciding what you are going to eat when you are faced with the choice of all those lovely restaurants in the shopping centers. Will it be KFC, BurgerKing.....or maybe some TexMex........and then when you go to the Cafe to have a nice coffee to recharge your batteries................Oh My God!! All those delicious cakes just begging to be picked........pick me..pick me...says the most delicious cream cake....hahahahahaha!!

That´s the good thing about taking the Hoodia Pills. You really don´t feel hungry at all, so you can shop till you drop without thinking about filling up. And even if you are tempted to indulge yourself, you will find that you just can´t finish what you order! You will feel full half way through and won´t be able to force those final mouthfuls in at all!

It really doesn´t feel like being on a diet. And you don´t have to bore everyone to death with the details of the latest fad....you know how it goes "I´m allowed to have sausages but no bread....blah blah blah!!"

Get yourself off that Fad Diet Treadmill right now!! Try Hoodia yourself and change the way you diet forever!

Common Myths From The Weight Loss Crowd

Myth: You’ll be OK with a high protein/low carb diet
Fact: This type of diet aims to secure most of the daily required amount of calories from protein foods, such as meat, dairy products and eggs, with a very small part taken from foods containing a lot of carbs (bread, pasta, potatoes and fruits). The biggest problem with this diet is that many common and popular foods are forbidden, which makes it easy for the user to get bored or frustrated. When boredom and frustration set in, quitting time is never far off. Another problem is the lack of nutrients that are usually brought in by carbohydrate foods, while allowing the user to eat bacon and cheese that raise cholesterol levels.

The bottom line is that high protein/low carb diets result in fast weight loss in some users, but it’s not just fat that goes away. People also lose some of their lean muscle mass and a lot of water as the kidneys work harder to rid the body of excess waste from protein and fat.

The added stress to your kidneys is not healthy at all and, in the long run, will lead to dehydration, headaches, feelings of nausea and dizziness. Before engaging in a long-term diet, you would do well to discuss it with your physician. And if you are really keen on dieting, try a balanced diet first, because it will help you lose weight without hurting your system.

Myth: Permanent weight loss can be achieved with fad diets.
Fact: This is yet another common myth among the weight loss crowd. Like any other diet that tells you to cut this or that food from your daily meals, fad diets are not healthy for you. The cornerstone of any diet is supplying the body with all the calories, proteins and minerals it needs. Diets that cut out foods without regard for the needs of your body cannot be healthy for you. Fad diets fail to deliver on the promise of permanent weight loss because people will always crave the forbidden foods and will always end up breaking the rules and ditching the diet.

The key to making weight loss permanent is more exercise and to avoid eating food that makes you fat without nourishing your body. Our extensive studies confirmed the importance of exercising and of a well-balanced diet.

Myth: Low-fat or no fat food is always a good choice.
Fact: The only low fat foods that are also low in calories are fruits. The rest of the huge low-fat or non-fat group are not a safe choice if you are dieting. These products may have added sugar, starch or flour to make them taste better, which means extra calories that do not belong into your diet. So make sure you check the list of ingredients on packages whenever you decide to buy low-fat.

Myth: Switching to vegetarian food will help you lose weight and stay healthy.
Fact: I know this is a hard pill to swallow, but no food plan will work for you unless you take charge of your eating and make sure that everything that goes past your lips is the right kind of food. The key here is to be absolutely sure that the vegetarian diet will give your body all the nutrients and calories it needs. Eating heaps of foods that do nothing for you from the nutritional point of view, outside maybe of filling your stomach, can bring you a lot of trouble in the future.

Since plants tend to have a lower concentration of nutrients than meat, you will have to eat more food than before to make up for this difference. Not to mention that a strictly vegetarian diet will not get you enough vitamin B12, vitamin D, iron, calcium and zinc. These substances are taken mostly from dairy products and eggs in a regular diet, but true vegetarians can’t touch those. You’ll have to rely on the few and uncommon vegetables that can provide these substances.

Myth: Dairy products cause heart problems and make you fat.
Fact: Well, thanks to modern medicine everybody knows that eating a lot of dairy products is a surefire path to high blood pressure and stroke, although a large group of people from France refuse to die despite the large quantities of cheese and wine they consume.

Dairy products are the main source of calcium that keeps your bones strong and healthy. It is absolutely essential for children and can be in no way overlooked by adults. Dairy products also contain vitamin D, which is crucial to maintaining the normal levels of calcium and phosphorus in your bloodstream.

If you don’t want to gain weight from dairy products, then choose low-fat or non-fat brands. There are enough of those around. If you are lactose-intolerant, drink soy or rice milk. It does not taste exactly the same as true milk, but it’s still good and nutritious.

Butter and margarine are the only dairy products you should worry about. They do contain big levels of fat. Still, if you can’t do without them, at least eat butter. Margarine is an over-processed fat that is not particularly good for you. Butter may be a bit fatter, but it definitely is the healthier of these two.

Here´s another article I found

I found this one on the site where I get my Hoodia Pills - hance the mention of the brand name.

How to recognize a bad diet when you see one

Diets come a dime a dozen and that’s the truth. From food plans based on scientific research, to the latest harebrained idea launched by some “this summer’s wonder” doctor and backed by the earnest efforts of Hollywood stars always on the quest for keeping thin, the world is full of diets. The latest big thing to hit the dieting market is Hoodia Gordonii, an African plant that has the astonishing property of curing hunger pangs. A bit of Hoodia and you can go on without eating for days and be no worse for the wear. It’s amazing things like these that make the dieting world interesting.

What most diets and dieting professionals are good for is to pronounce solemnly “Don’t eat this” or “Don’t eat that”. Talk being extremely cheap for the one who does the talking, it can nevertheless be made expensive for those ready to do the hearing. Always be careful about what diets let you eat and what they don’t. Diet or no diet, your body needs certain nutrients and minerals on a daily basis and any diet that keeps you from getting them is no good. Your mind also needs to blow off steam once in a while. So do yourself a pleasure and eat a forbidden food every now and then. Sure it’s banned, but you are also human and, if such things are kept on a careful check, then they won’t make any difference in the long run.

The second pillar of any good diet is exercise. The only way to lose weight without exercising is by resorting to surgery. Otherwise, fat must be lost the natural way: by using it up through extra effort. Exercising has the combined benefits of burning up fat and strengthening your entire body. On the physical side, the heart and circulatory system are the prime beneficiaries of exercising, with the muscle mass coming in second. On the psychological side, your outlook on life and your mood will improve with the effort. You will also be able to withstand stress and pressure better. With so many benefits, it’s a wonder that many people don’t take the trouble to exercises on a regular basis.

This is why we are proposing you a combination of herbal pills and exercises that is practically guaranteed to help you shed those excess pounds fast. The ProShape rx pills are 100 percent natural and contain the powerful ingredients Hoodia, which curbs the feeling of hunger, White Kidney Bean, for disrupting the conversion of starch to sugar, Chitosan, which prevents the absorption of cholesterol and White Willow, to metabolize fat. These ingredients and the comprehensive program of exercises will have you reach your target weight in no time at all. Order ProShape rx today and make the first step toward a healthier life.

It´s just another manic Monday!

I was out for the day yesterday at an International Food Fair. There was food tasting from loads of different countries - so I couldn´t be rude and not try some of that delicious food that had been prepared, now could I??

I had all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff including cow heart skewers with a luminescient green chilli sauce (it was good....really!) to Jamon Serrano to Scottish Shortbread and Pancakes.

Then to end off the day we went to a Mexican Restaurant to eat. I just couldn´t resist the dessert of Banana Taquito with chocolate Icecream....................oh noooooooooooo!!!

So today I am taking it easy and letting the Hoodia Pills do the work of keeping me away from indulging myself too much.

I didn´t weigh myself today for fear of what I would find. So I hope to be pleasantly surprised tomorow...................fingers (and everything else) crossed!! I´m going for a swim now to get some greatly needed exercise.

Till tomorrow.........hasta luego.

It´s going to be a busy weekend!

So I won´t have much time for posting.....but look out for an update and more advice on Monday!

Friday, May 26, 2006

Here comes the weekend

The weekend is always the worst time for any diet I´m on. Trying to resist the urge to treat myself because it´s the end of the week - well, it seems like a good excuse for a treat!

But with the Hoodia pills taking the edge of my hunger I don´t have to worry so much. If I´m not hungry I don´t go into the kitchen so much.....ergo: less temptation!

So I can look forward to the weekends more now and not face them with dread that yet another diet will be broken by Monday........lol.

Things to avoid when trying to lose weight

I found this list while surfing weight loss sites - some good advice here!

Things to avoid when trying to lose weight

Dieting is not always easy. In fact, it can prove a tough challenge for many people. So here’s a little guide to avoiding things that could make you lose control and start eating. Avoid them like plague if you wish to succeed.

1. Don’t rush into the toughest diet you can find.
This is a common mistake. Many people decide in a moment of desperation to follow a super-strict diet and fail. Don’t rush into a diet that may be too strict for you. If you don’t have any dieting experience and are not 100 percent sure you can stick with the diet, then choose something else.

2. Don’t lose touch with reality.
You can’t realistically expect things to happen over night. When choosing your goal, start small, but be prepared to go far. If you hear someone saying that he lost a large number of pounds in a short time, don’t make it your goal to match his performance. Diet results are different from one person to another.

3. Don’t go to the gym too often
Another common mistake is to use the enthusiasm of the first days to hit the gym every day. This won’t help you at all. Your body needs time to heal and expand the muscle mass after each training session and going to the gym every day interferes with this natural process. Besides, a week of non-stop training could never offset ten or twenty years of couch potato lifestyle.

4. Don’t get hard on calories.
We all know that cutting down on calories is one of the building blocks of all diets, but you have to be careful about it. Cut down on too many calories and your body will start storing anything it possibly can. This is not a good way to lose weight.

5. Don’t skip meals.
Some people think that skipping one or two meals could help them lose weight faster. They don’t understand that dieting is all about eating the right food and not starving yourself.

6. Don’t check the bathroom scales everyday.
Everybody is eager to see the confirmation of his or her efforts in the shape of lost pounds, but you should not let this drive you to checking your weight everyday. The daily fluctuations of your weight will soon have you depressed and ready to quit dieting. And this is something you want to avoid.

7. Don’t let emotions drive you.
Aside from the eagerness that drives people to check their weight every day, there are other emotions that influence dieting. If you know you’re used to reaching out for ice-cream or snacks when you are bored, frustrated or angry, then you should deal with these issues and not allow them to come between you and your purpose.

8. Don’t refuse to seek help.
Not everyone was born with iron will and nerves of steel. If you need advice or help, don’t hesitate to ask it from your friends or from professionals. Don’t try to solve all problems by yourself.

9. Don’t deny yourself your favourite foods.
Treats are a great way of raising your willpower and determination. Diets are just food control methods, not prisons. So what if you eat something forbidden once in a while, especially if that food is a favourite of yours? If such treats are not frequent, then they will make no difference in the long run.

10. Don’t rely on your willpower alone
Use your head as well. If you wish to know how much you eat, then write everything down and analyze the list for things that should not be there. Sometimes hunger creeps up on you and make you eat something you shouldn’t. Be honest with yourself and keep a clear head.

Missed a few days!

I have missed posting for a few days because Google thought I wasn´t a real person and made me prove it 8)

Anyway, all should be OK now so I can get back to reporting my progress.

Last week I bought some Laxative Tea - I live in Spain and you can buy this stuff everywhere! Well, the instructions say to have a cup at breakfast time and one at night. The first time I tried it I just took the one at night, thinking I would be nice and cleaned out the next morning and would weigh myself right after. That worked and according to my scales I had lost half a kilo (or 1 lb) overnight. Great!! So I thought I would have another go at the tea that night as well..............big mistake!! I spent all the next day in agony with stomach cramps - only good thing was I didn´t feel much like eating.........lol!! Needless to say I will be a bit more careful of having this ***!! tea again.

Anyway, the Hoodia Pills are working great. I don´t feel hungry and have much more energy than I had a few weeks ago.

My current goal is to lose 5 kilos (11 lbs) before the wedding. I can´t believe how easy it is with the Hoodia Pills. Where have they been all my life....hahahaha!

Inspiration for Dieters!

After writing that last long post I had to go and lie down...lol!!

So today I am going to share an article with you about Hoodia Gordonii.

"The Secret about Hoodia "

Introducing a plant from South Africa that has the weight-loss crowd thrilled. Is this the thing that could help millions of overweight people display bodies to die for? Maybe, just maybe, this is the magic pill we've all been waiting for.

Let’s face it, the onslaught of fashion magazines and shows has drummed the perfect shape of a fit body into everybody’s brains. We all know how we’re supposed to look like to be attractive and to give off that “carefree success” look. What we did not know is that the next big thing in dieting comes from South Africa

From the sandy expanses of the Kalahari Desert intrepid businessmen bring a cactus called Hoodia. Weight loss experts are already excited over the avenues opened by this plant that curbs hunger.

For hundreds of years the Kalahari bushmen have been eating Hoodia to keep hunger at bay during long hunting trips and in times of drought. And now millions of people living in industrialized countries are about to join them, as Hoodia-based pills are made available in the USA. However, for all the glittering promise of a better tomorrow, Hoodia is still somewhat of a problem. First, no scientific tests have been conducted on humans to check the effects of this plant. We know it works for the bushmen, but will it work for everybody just as well and without side effects?

People high and low, from Hollywood stars to high-powered entertainment staffers to the common man, everybody is willing to overlook the lack of official studies and have a go at Hoodia. Many people have been fighting excess weight all their lives and are interested in anything that promises fast and effective weight loss.

One of the latest and most effective drugs launched on the weight loss market is the ProShape rx. Does it have the amazing Hoodia among its ingredients? You bet! This new pill may well prove to be a ray of hope for overweight people looking to improve their looks and health by shedding those extra pounds. If Hoodia is really the magic plant all overweight people are waiting for, then ProShape rx is one of the best choices around.

My Oldest Son is getting Married!

Horrors!! My oldest son is getting married and I am fat :(

It´s the first wedding in our family and I really have to look good for this but what am I going to do?

Well, this was the situation last year - I had 8 months notice, surely I could lose all my excess weight before the wedding. No problem, I decided, and got started on yet another diet. But that was November........and then along came Christmas!

Not to worry, I told myself, I´ll still have more than 6 months after Christmas to lose the weight. So I enjoyed my Christmas and put on a few pounds more :)

The New Year dawned and resolutions were firmly made. My husband is a chef (therein lies the major problem!) and is very supportive when I go on a diet. He produced low fat healthy meals for me and I ate them without the guilty conscience. Things were going well and I was losing weight and starting to feel good.

But of course, life can´t be that easy. At the end of Febuary I pulled a muscle in my back and was in a lot of pain for over a month. I went to a chiropractor who sorted it out for me, but in the meantime I was feeling very sorry for myself - I a really bad patient! I lost myself in comfort foods and pigged out on chocolate :o)

One month later I was fairly bursting out of my clothes and feeling like a fat pig! Now it was the end of March, less than 4 months to the wedding and I was fatter than I had been in November.......disaster!!

Well, I had seen all these ads and read all the SPAM emails about Hoodia Gordonii Pills and laughed them off - I have been on the vicious diet cycle most of my life and couldn´t believe it could be that easy. But I was desperate!! I ordered a supply of Hoodia Pills from ProshapeRx and prepared myself for failure yet again.

The pills arrived and I got stuck in, read the instructions and started on my "New Diet". I also got a free membership to O-Vital, a health & fitness website (worth $35!) which has been a great help along the way.

Well, it was unbelievable......I took the pills before my meals and I wasn´t eating half as much food as I used to. In fact, I wasn´t even feeling hungry enough to have lunch during the day sometimes! It was amazing!! Within a week I was losing weight, feeling healthier, and not even feeling hungry. It was just as easy as they had promised it would be.

I have been taking the ProshapeRx Hoodia Gordonii for 7 weeks now and have lost an incredible 10 Kilos, or 22 lbs. I have more energy and am doing a lot more energetic stuff, which is also helping me trim down.

Things are looking better now, and I will be able to stand proudly watching my son get married to his lovely bride, with more confidence.......and a nice outfit instead of a bin liner....lol!!

Well, that´s the story so far. I will keep this blog updated with my progress and also some helpful tips and articles about ProshapeRx and losing weight.
